The Capital Cutups
was established in 1999 when several co-workers at the
Arizona House of Representatives expressed an interest in quilt
making. Our projects have included a mystery table runner
using fall or Christmas fabrics, participation in the Quilted
Apple's "$5 Quilt" block-of-the-month project, and the
"Thimbleberries Village" block of the month. In March of 2002 the focus of our group took off in a
new direction. One of our co-workers was involved in a serious
automobile accident on her way home from work and we decided to make a
quilt for her. The idea caught on, and in 4 months time we completed 4 friendship
quilts and 2 baby quilts for various co-workers. Our biggest
accomplishment was overcoming the primary obstacle in
constructing group quilts―learning to stitch an exact 1/4"
seam! We enjoy a strong thread of friendship with each
other as well as the pleasure of extending friendship and cheer
to others. We hope you enjoy viewing our current projects.
